Terms of service
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Welcome to Furry Royals! These Terms are the agreement between you and us when you use our website or order a portrait. We've tried to keep them readable, so please do read them.
1. Who we are
Furry Royals is a trading name of Vlad TUDOR, a sole proprietorship (entrepreneur individuel) registered in France under SIRET 988 992 160 00016, located at 119 avenue Gabriel Péri, 92260 Fontenay-aux-Roses, France. You can reach us at support@furryroyals.com.
In these Terms, "we," "us," and "our" mean Furry Royals. "You" means the person who uses the site or places an order. Our Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, and Privacy Policy are part of these Terms.
2. Who can order
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- For now, we only ship to addresses in the 50 US states and Washington, D.C.
- Our portraits are sold for personal use. If you're buying for a business, please email us first.
3. How ordering works
- You pick a style and a format, add a photo of your pet (on the product page or by email after checkout), and pay.
- We email you an order confirmation. Our contract with you starts when we send it.
- Within 24 hours of receiving your order and a usable photo, we email you a proof.
- You ask for free revisions, or you approve. Nothing is printed, and no final file is delivered, until you approve.
- For prints, we send your approved portrait to our print partner and it ships to you for free. For digital files, we email you the final full-resolution file.
If you don't reply to a proof: we'll send you at least two reminders. If we still haven't heard from you 30 days after we sent your latest proof, we'll treat that proof as approved and print or deliver it. If you'd rather cancel during that time, just tell us and we'll refund you in full.
We may decline or cancel an order and refund you in full. For example, if the photo breaks our content rules (section 6), or if we can't get a good likeness from any photo you're able to send us.
4. AI-generated artwork: please read this
- Your portrait is made with generative artificial intelligence (AI) image tools, using your photo and the style you choose. A person on our team prepares each portrait, checks it for likeness and quality, and handles your revisions.
- It is not hand-painted. Words like "oil painting," "brush strokes," and "varnish" describe the look of the style, which is created digitally.
- AI can get details wrong, like an extra whisker or a slightly different marking. That's what proofs and free revisions are for: we fix what we can before you approve. Costumes, accessories, and backgrounds are invented to fit the style you chose.
- Every portrait is generated individually. Two portraits, even of the same pet in the same style, won't be identical. Other customers' portraits may use the same style, costume, and setting. Our styles aren't exclusive.
- Your file may carry invisible watermarks or metadata that the AI tools add to identify the image as AI-generated. They don't change how your portrait looks or prints.
- Example portraits on our site were made by us from licensed stock photos and are labeled "Example." They are not customer orders.
5. Your photo
What works best: a color photo that shows your pet's whole face, with the eyes visible and good light, that isn't tightly cropped. From a black-and-white photo, the AI has to guess fur colors. From a tightly cropped photo, it may invent parts of the body. If your photo won't give a good result, we'll ask you for another one before we start.
Your promise to us: when you send us a photo, you confirm that:
- you took it, or you have permission from the person who did (for example, a professional photographer);
- it shows your own dog or cat, or a pet whose owner agrees to the portrait; and
- using it for your order doesn't break anyone else's rights.
The permission you give us: you give Furry Royals a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy, store, edit, and adapt your photo, and the portrait made from it, only to: create your portrait and proofs, talk to you about your order, print and ship it, provide customer support, keep the records the law requires, and prevent fraud. This includes sharing them with the service providers who help us do these things, such as our store platform, our AI image provider, and our print partner, as described in our Privacy Policy. This license ends when we delete the files under our Privacy Policy, except for copies the law requires us to keep.
We don't use your photo or portrait in our marketing unless you opt in (section 7).
6. What we can and can't create
For now, we only create portraits of dogs and cats. We won't create the following, and we may refuse or cancel the order with a full refund:
- Portraits of people, including children. If a person appears in your photo, we'll crop the photo so only your pet shows before we start, or ask you for another photo.
- Copyrighted or trademarked characters, costumes, logos, or brands (for example Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pokémon, or sports teams), and real celebrities.
- Content that's hateful, sexual, violent, harassing, or illegal, or that shows an animal being harmed.
- Anything made from a photo you don't have the right to use.
7. Showcase permission (optional)
You can let us feature your portrait, but you never have to.
- At checkout or by email, you can tick the optional box "You can feature my pet's portrait." It's always unticked by default. If you tick it, you let us show your finished portrait, and your pet's first name if you gave it, on our website, social media, emails, and ads.
- A separate optional box, "You can also show my original photo next to it," lets us show a before-and-after. If you don't tick it, we'll never show your original photo.
- We'll never show your full name, address, or other personal details.
- You don't get paid or receive a discount for this permission, and saying no doesn't change anything about your order.
- If you also send us a comment about your experience and agree that we can share it, we'll only publish it as you wrote it (we may shorten it without changing its meaning), under the name you choose.
- You can withdraw your permission at any time by emailing support@furryroyals.com. We'll stop any new use and remove your portrait from our website and social accounts within 14 days. We can't pull back ads that have already run or copies other people have shared.
8. Your portrait: what you can do with it
- Once we deliver it, you can display, print, frame, and share your portrait (on social media, in cards, as gifts) for personal, non-commercial purposes, with no time limit.
- If you'd like to use it commercially, for example as a business logo, on merchandise you sell, or in ads, please email us first.
- A note on copyright: under current US law, artwork generated by AI without enough human creative input may not be protected by copyright. So we can't promise you, or ourselves, exclusive copyright in the portrait, and we can't stop other people from copying it. To the extent we hold any rights in your portrait, we grant you the rights described above. We won't sell or license your portrait to anyone else.
- We keep all rights in our website, brand, style names, and example images.
9. Prices, payment, and taxes
- Prices are in US dollars. Shipping within the 50 US states and Washington, D.C. is free.
- Sales tax may be added at checkout where we're required to collect it.
- Payments are processed by Shopify Payments or PayPal. We never receive your full card details.
- If a price on our site is obviously wrong, we'll contact you before going ahead with your order, and you can cancel for a full refund.
10. Shipping and delivery
Our Shipping Policy explains where we ship and how long each step takes. If we can't ship by the date we gave you, we'll tell you before that date and you can cancel for a full refund. Responsibility for the package passes to you when it's delivered to you or to the person you chose.
11. Revisions, cancellations, and refunds
Our Refund Policy explains free revisions, cancelling before you approve, digital-only orders, and free replacements for damaged or misprinted prints. In short: you approve before we print, and if we can't make a version you love, we refund you in full.
12. Legal guarantees
Nothing in these Terms limits any warranty or guarantee that applies by law and can't be excluded.
French legal guarantees (these Terms are governed by French law):
- Legal guarantee of conformity for prints (French Consumer Code, Articles L217-3 and following). You have two years from delivery to ask us to fix a lack of conformity that appears. During that time, you only need to show that the defect exists, not when it appeared. You're entitled to have the item repaired or replaced within 30 days of your request, free of charge and without major inconvenience. If that's impossible, or doesn't fix the problem, you can get a price reduction or cancel the purchase for a refund.
- Legal guarantee of conformity for digital files (French Consumer Code, Articles L224-25-1 and following). For a one-time delivery like your portrait file, it covers defects that appear within two years of delivery. You're entitled to have the file brought into conformity free of charge, or, if that fails, to a price reduction or a refund.
- Guarantee against hidden defects (French Civil Code, Articles 1641 to 1649). You can act within two years of discovering the defect.
If you live in the United States, you may also have implied warranties under your state's law. We don't exclude them.
These aren't defects: a slight color difference between your screen and the print, the artistic interpretation of costumes and backgrounds in the style you chose, and the natural texture of canvas.
13. Our responsibility to you
If we break these Terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach or of our failure to take reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable when you placed your order, for business losses (our portraits are for personal use), or for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control (section 14).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it, including for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
14. Events outside our control
If something outside our reasonable control delays or prevents your order (for example, a carrier or print partner outage, severe weather, or a natural disaster), we'll tell you as soon as we can and do our best to keep things moving. If the delay is significant, you can cancel for a full refund of anything not yet delivered.
15. Third-party services
Our store runs on Shopify. Payments are handled by Shopify Payments or PayPal, and packages are carried by shipping companies. Their own terms apply to the parts of the service they provide.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version on our site when you place your order applies to that order. We'll show the date of the latest update at the top.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of France. If you're a consumer, this choice doesn't take away the protection you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the place where you live.
If something goes wrong, please email us first. We'd love to fix it directly.
You can bring a claim before the courts of France or, where the law allows, before the courts of the place where you live.
18. Other legal bits
- If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a business that takes over Furry Royals, as long as your rights aren't reduced.
- These Terms, together with our Refund, Shipping, and Privacy policies, are the whole agreement between you and us about your order.
